Mom Sherri, z'l and my sister Michelle, both sang with Cantor Modell and the choir.
"Late Mass" for Kol Nidre
Mom Sherri talk for Margalit Moskowitz for years in the Hebrew school. And we last saw Margalit last July, at the Shiva Minyan for my Mom. Though Margalit looked very frail, it was good to catch up with her a little bit.

My parents were Francis and Louis Alhadeff. We were the original people involved in the temple. I was the first confirmation in the temple along with miss Salmon we started I was one of the ones who started the youth group and we had a very good turnout for the first turn out. my brother, Jerry, Ahadeff. Was bar mitzvah at the temple.

My parents, Ira and Fortunette Richard, were founding members of Temple Beth Emet. My sister was one of the first babies named in its sanctuary. I can just as easily recall the Emily St synagogue as I can the dedication of the current synagogue. One of my fondest memories is trying to guess which version of Adon Olam Cantor Moddel would lead us in on Shabbat. Another is of my first steady boyfriend, Alex Poland (may he rest in peace), and my second, Peter Hayman. I am having surgery and will be unable to attend the reunion but wish you all the best on this important simcha.

Mazel Tov, Temple Beth Emet on reaching this wonderful milestone! May the Jewish community continue to grow and flourish in Anaheim.
Our family joined TBE in 1980 before my older brother, Adam had his Bar Mitzvah. Our family became active members of the synagogue from that point on. My parents, Martin and Helen Torem, OBM, were very active in the Synagogue's Men's Club and Sisterhood and my siblings and I were active in USY and Hebrew School throughout our teenage years. My parents were frequent members of the congregation up until their passing. My parents are buried in the Temple Beth Emet section of the cemetery in Costa Mesa, CA.
I personally have so many fond memories of my time at TBE. Having my Bat Mitzvah in 1985, being an active member of USY, attending the Hebrew School and attending Friday Night, Shabbat and High Holiday services until I moved to the San Fernando Valley for college in 1995.
I relocated to Seattle, WA 25 years ago and I am still in contact with many friends from TBE on FB. It has been so wonderful to see where all our paths have taken us.
Thank you, Temple Beth Emet for so many memorable years of Jewish education and life experiences. I will always cherish my time spent there with family and friends.

It's hard to believe our two cherished years at Temple Beth Emet were half a century ago! But they were our first years as rabbi and rebbitzen and couldn't have been a better launching pad for our future! Thanks for the memories!

Happy 70th Anniversary TBE!!!

Growing up, TBE was the center of my families Jewish life. We lived in La Mirada, which was a 13 mile drive to temple. Someone was at TBE 6 to 7 days per week. Sunday morning services, Sunday school, youth choir, USY in the afternoon. Then came Monday & Wednesday Hebrew school and adult choir on Tuesday's. Friday's and Saturday's were services.
My brothers were part of the Boy Scout troop. Ed, Art and I graduated from Hebrew school and then confirmation or Hebrew high. All three of us had our Bar/Bat Mitzvahs at TBE. Ed & I were married at TBE.
There were over 150 kids in the Hebrew school. Most kids shared their Bar/Bat Mitzvah with someone from their class. It was very rare to have a "single". With that many Bar/Bat Mitzvahs it wasn't unusual to have a party most Saturday's or Sunday's.
My family attended all holiday services at the temple. At the beginning of the school year we missed a lot of school. There were only 10 Jewish kids in our elementary school. We were the only kids to take off all the holidays. I remember one year, when the principal of our school asked mom we were really out for the Jewish holidays. Mom had Rabbi Tofield write a note explaining Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret, Simchat Torah, Passover, etc had additional days that not everyone took off from work or school.

Temple Beth Emet has been my home for 43 years. TBE is the place we pray together, join in communal meals and
programs and enjoy socializing with one another. We hug each other and nobody is a stranger. Beth Emet is not a building. It is a family who cares about one another and is always there for each other.
I am honored and privileged to be your President as we celebrate our 70th anniversary and beyond.
I can't wait to see everyone and celebrate on October 18, 2026.
May we all go from strength to strength. Till 120.

Larry Waterman
The Waterman’s have a colorful history with Temple Beth Emet, from my father Pinky and my Aunt Florence, a Hebrew School teacher. Although they’re gone their legacy will never die. I was Bar Mitzvah the week of JFK’s funeral and I had to learn a new haftorah as my father realized me and Randy Loeb were given the same one, an accomplishment I still hold on to 63 years later.
